ASCU Donates Trees to Local Schools

As part of the Earth Day assembly at Edith Cavell Elementary,
Derek Ellard, branch manager of ASCU Record Street presented a tree to
Craig Hutchings, principal of Edith Cavell (pictured here with several students).

The scientific evidence is in - climate change is real.  Trees absorb carbon dioxide when they grow so every tree that’s planted offsets carbon dioxide emissions and helps stabilize the Earth’s climate.  Advance Savings Credit Union is committed to reducing our environmental footprint and making the world a better place for the next generation.  In support of Earth Day on April 22nd, ASCU donated Aspen trees to six local schools: Edith Cavell Elementary, Hillcrest Elementary, West Riverview Elementary, Port Elgin Regional, Petitcodiac Regional, and JMA Armstrong.

“We are committed to supporting these schools in many different ways throughout the course of the year,” says Jennifer Marr, Community Promotions Officer for Advance Savings Credit Union.  “In light of global warming and climate change, giving each of the schools a tree to help offset our carbon emissions is one way that we are able to help ensure the stability of the Earth for the next generation of students.”
